This article covers two scenarios:
- If you are signed in to a Breck devices with a "Personal" Apple ID
- If you have never signed into an Apple ID on your device, Sign into your Breck Apple ID
Personal Apple ID
If you previously had an Apple ID with a breckschool.org email address and are signed in to a Breck Mac or iPad with that Apple ID
✅ Before signing out of that previous Apple ID on your Breck-owned device, you should take an inventory of frequently-used apps. The apps of particular interest are those that store data in iCloud. Typically, these are native iPad apps such as Goodnotes or Notability.
The basic workflow is as follows, This should be completed for any apps that you are using:
ensure the app has successfully synced all of its data to the personal iCloud account
make a manual backup of the data if the app provides that functionality
You can get a list of apps that are syncing with iCloud by opening the iCloud Preferences, clicking the iCloud button, and then “Show More Apps" using iCloud
After ensuring data is synced to iCloud, or manually backed up..
Transition to the Managed Apple ID:
Turn off iCloud syncing in apps, choosing to keep a local copy if presented with that option.
Sign out of your personal Apple ID
Sign into your Breck Managed Apple ID.
Re-enable iCloud syncing in the app(s) and choose to merge your data if presented with that option.

Sign in to your Managed Apple ID
After completing the previous steps to migrate your Apple ID to a personal email address and preparing data associated with apps, you are ready to sign in with the Breck Managed Apple ID.
Open the System Settings App.
Click sign in with your Apple ID.
Enter your Breck email address.
You will see a message similar to this, click Continue
The Google login window will appear. Enter your email address:
If you have multi-factor authentication enabled, you will be prompted to approve the login.
After continuing, you may also be asked for your password one additional time.
After clicking continue, you will be asked to allow Apple School Manager access to your account, choose Accept. Enter your Google credentials, you will then be subsequently signed into your Apple ID on the device.
Signing in to the Apple ID will grant access to cloud storage space, collaboration with the Apple tools such as Pages, Freeform and Keynote, and access to automatically rostered Classrooms next year.
